BMA Mission Statement 2025:
The Wayne State University School of Medicine Black Medical Association (BMA), established in 1969, is a student group dedicated to fostering academic excellence, professional development, and leadership among African American and minority students. As the local affiliate of the Student National Medical Association, the WSUSOM BMA is one of the institution’s oldest and most active student organizations. Committed to supporting current and future underrepresented minority medical students, the WSUSOM BMA strives to address the needs of underserved communities and increase the number of clinically excellent, culturally competent, and socially conscious physicians. The organization fosters collaboration among student organizations through numerous programs centered on health disparities, advocacy, and education. WSUSOM BMA promotes a supportive and inclusive environment that advances equity and excellence in the medical field.
